INTRODUCTION:The Wrangler is considered a mini sport utility vehicle and has always been produced by Chrysler, under the Jeep name. A successor of the World War II Jeep vehicle, the Wrangler underwent a big makeover in 1987, again in 1997 and 2007. The Wrangler is known by Jeep under a variety of names including YJ, JK and TJ. Targeting at maximizing comfort to expand the appeal of the Wrangler beyond the off-road world, Chrysler has continued to update the Jeep Wrangler year after year.

POWER:Both models are equipped with a 2.5-liter I4 engine and 123 horsepower. A five-speed manual overdrive transmission is standard for both versions, though the Base is also available with a three-speed automatic transmission. The compression ratio is 9.2 to one, and the engine displacement is 2,472 cc. The bore and stroke are 3.88 inches and 3.19 inches.

FUEL: The 1992 Wrangler has a 15-gallon fuel tank and runs on unleaded gas. With a three-speed automatic transmission, the Base version gets 15 mpg, or miles per gallon, in the city and 16 mpg on the highway. All versions with a manual transmission get 18 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway.

FEATURES: A tachometer is included for both models. Tachometers measure rpm, or revolutions per minute.

MEASUREMENT: The 1992 Wrangler is 153 inches long, 66 inches wide and 72 inches high. The wheelbase is 93.4 inches and the turning diameter is 32.9 feet. The front and rear tracks both measure 58 inches. Both the Base and S versions weigh 2,935 pounds.

INTRODUCTION:Jeep introduced the Cherokee in 1984. Its production run spanned almost 20 years until it was replaced by the Jeep Liberty. Jeep created a sports utility vehicle that was smaller and more fuel-efficient than previous SUVs on the market, according to the Edmunds website. The 1990 Jeep Cherokee offered buyers the option of two or four doors.

HIGHLIGHTS:Jeep built the 1990 Cherokee with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. All models had a standard manual transmission. Jeep offered an automatic transmission as an optional feature.

SPECIFICATIONS:
The base model had a 2.5-liter, in-line, four-cylinder engine with 121 horsepower and 141 foot-pounds of torque. The remaining trim models sported a 4.0-liter, in-line six-cylinder engine with 177 horsepower and 224 foot-pounds of torque.

The vehicle had a fuel capacity of 20.2 gallons. The 1990 Cherokee was rated at between 16 and 18 mpg city, and between 20 and 24 mpg highway, depending on engine and transmission.

  • Exterior and Options:# The 1990 Jeep Cherokee came in several trim styles. These included base, Pioneer, Sport, Laredo and Limited. All trim levels had a wheelbase of 101.4 inches, width of 70.5 inches and length of 165.3 inches. Exterior options included steel wheels, a roof rack and specialized factory paint. Buyers could add a trailer hitch, a camper and towing package, four-wheel ABS system or a sun roof.
  • Interior and Options:# The 1990 Jeep Cherokee seated five people. The Cherokee provided front headroom of 38.3 inches, front legroom of 41.1 inches and rear leg room of 35.3 inches. Interior options included privacy glass, a tilt steering wheel and a premium stereo system.
